3 Gangi fighters competed at Civil War MMA event in Woodridge, IL. The fights took place Saturday, January 22nd at Bobak’s conference center. Sempai Rob Mesce(MMA) represented the Gangi team with a solid win over a tough and heavier opponent. Solid striking and good takedown defense eventually set up a Rear choke in the third round. A late rules change left Blake Brittain (modified Muay Thai) without the practice time to prepare. He showed heart accepting new rules two hours before fight time and vows to prepare for any rules in the future. Mike Krause (MMA) fought aggressive. After landing some solid shots his momentum forward caused a slip that put him on bottom. All of these men plan on coming back better. Thanks for showing support for these competitors and putting your voice behind these young men.
Gangi Team goes 3 - 1 at Civil War MMA battle of Melrose Park.
Kyle Stark started the winning ways by taking his opponent to the ground at will, passing into the mount & pounding his way to a TKO victory. Genevieve Girard weathered an early storm and landed strong body kicks that took the steam out of her opponent taking the victory late in the first round. Blake Brittain showcased sharp striking and improved wrestling. Unfortunately a slip on a high kick landed him in a compromised position & he was submitted. The evening ended with Rob Mesce patiently dissecting his opponents game & scoring a monster KO in the second round. Landing hard punches to his opponents jaw earned Rob KNOCKOUT of the NIGHT honors. Great work guys & gal. Thanks to everyone who helped & supported our competitors. Check out our Videos page for a highlight reel!
